Inside the Metroproject, there are 240 litres of trunk space even with the battery and electric drive components in place. The car's 1.4-meter height provides adequate headroom for all passengers. There is a wrap-around dashboard and centre console, while styling touches are similar with Audi's TT. There is also a warming/cooling feature in the centre console, though its energy demands may not be congruent with the energy conservation efforts of the car.
Technologically, this Metroproject features the new Audi Mobile Device. When in the car, this device integrates and accesses mobile phones, the navigation system, and the multi media interface of other Audis; however, once removed, this portable compact device allows for use as an MP3 player and an electronic key fob. The screen can also be used for real-time monitoring of the in-car security camera and GPS-determined location. The mobile device communicates with the car via a wireless LAN connection, while wireless telephone UMTS transmitters can keep in touch at a greater distance. There are also possibilities of programming personal climate and audio preferences or accessing address books by the handwriting-sensitive touch screen.
Even if the Metroproject does not make it to production, look to see its elements in other Audis to come.
