We're not sure why the Germans keep calling sleek four-door models 'coupes'--but regardless of the definition, there's a new one expected from Audi in 2010. Think along the lines of a Mercedes-Benz CLS or the Volkswagen Passat CC.

The Sportback Concept, rumored to reach production as the A7, will possibly include two-door and drop-top variations as well as a high-performance version.

Speculation on details is vast--though it's thought the concept shown at NAIAS should slot between the A6 and A8 in terms of size and intention. The A7 could be on sale later this year.

We know what will definitely be on sale later this year: Audi's new R8 V10. As the name may lead on, Audi is stuffing an optional 525-horsepower V10 engine into their R8 supercar for the 2009 model year. The mid-engine two-seater is currently powered by a 4.2-litre V8 with 420 horsepower.

The R8 V10 took the stage, displaying its wider side skirts, accentuated side-blades and matte finished exhaust grilles to eager onlookers. The all-LED headlamps were a big discussion point too-and they work to further separate the car from its competition.

The R8 V10 will hit German roadways this spring, while a diesel variant of the small A3 has been announced for North America.
