Frankfurt 2017: The best grand touring car ever conceived

Once again redefining the standards of elegance, comfort and opulence for luxury coupes, the third-generation Continental GT is making its world premiere this week at the 2017 International Motor Show Germany in Frankfurt. Bentley describes it as no less than the best grand touring car ever conceived.

The new model is powered by a new 6.0L W12 TSI twin-turbo engine that will be available, for the first time, with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, and can generate 626 hp along with 664 lb-ft of torque. This translates into a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.7 seconds, and a top speed of 333 km/h.

A technologically advanced new chassis works with a dynamic ride control system to provide occupants of the Continental GT with, according to Bentley, an exceptionally refined and precise driving experience in any and all types of road and weather conditions.

Design-wise, the more sculptural contours work to seduce from the outside, while the interior is replete with details that attest to a notable evolution in terms of technologies used by Bentley, for example with the inclusion of state-of-the-art, fully digital instrumentation and a rotating central display.

Below are two superb videos, the first introducing the new Bentley Continental GT and providing an inkling of the incomparable driving experience it offers, while the second shines the spotlight on Bentley director of design Stefan Sielaff as he describes the creation process for the new luxury grand tourer.
