Polestar has opened Canadian order books for the 2027 Polestar 4, providing the perfect occasion to share details about the changes for the model. One thing that isn’t changing with the EV now known as the 4 Coupe is the pricing: base price is set at $67,700 CAD.
2027 Polestar 4 Coupe – What’s new?
The Polestar 4, become the Polestar 4 Coupe so as to avoid confusion with the new Polestar 4 SUV just announced, gets a series of chassis enhancements, mechanical updates and a lower carbon footprint for 2027.
Despite the updates, the 2027 Polestar 4 coupe holds its ground on pricing. The single-motor rear-wheel-drive version starts at $67,700, including a mandatory $2,800 destination charge. Upgrading to the dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant raises the starting price to $72,700.
One reason Polestar is able to hold the line on pricing is because of the absence of onerous Canadian import tariffs on the 4 Coupe. Unlike the U.S.-built Polestar 3, which saw a recent $9,000 price surge due to Canadian counter-tariffs on American vehicles, the Polestar 4 is manufactured at Renault Korea’s Busan plant under the Canada-South Korea Free Trade Agreement.
In another quirk reflecting the current odd state of the auto industry, Canada is the sole North American market to receive this updated version, since Polestar is being ejected from the U.S. market after the 2026 model-year.
Performance and powertrain of the 2027 Polestar 4 Coupe
Polestar engineers focused their attention primarily on elevating driving dynamics and ride comfort, we were told today by the Geely-owned EV brand of Swedish origin. To that end, the 2027 update introduces high-capacity passive dampers, recalibrated spring rates, revised anti-roll bars and polyurethane suspension rebound stops in place of internal rebound coil springs. According to Polestar, these modifications yield sharper steering precision and greater vehicle control without compromising comfort.
The electric powertrains carry over unchanged from the vehicle's inaugural 2026 model-year. The entry-level rear-motor setup produces 268 hp and offers an estimated range of up to 499 km. The 536-hp dual-motor version remains the fastest vehicle in Polestar’s portfolio, sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, with an estimated range of 451 km (or 410 km when equipped with the Performance Pack).
Design of the 2027 Polestar 4 Coupe
Visually, the trim structure is now subtly distinguished by seatbelt styling: black for the base rear-motor model, black with a Swedish gold stripe for the dual-motor, and full Swedish gold for the Performance Pack.
For the rest, the model returns unchanged and stands quite distinctly apart from the new 4 SUV.
Enhanced sustainability
Polestar notes that the Busan-built coupe boasts the lowest cradle-to-gate carbon footprint of any vehicle in its lineup, measuring 19.8 tonnes of CO2 equivalent for single-motor models and 20.7 tonnes for dual-motor variants.
Deliveries for the 2027 Polestar 4 coupe in Canada are scheduled to begin later this year.
