Obviously, the name of the car comes from the legendary Mulsanne Straight at Le Mans, which also echoes the original Mulsanne produced by Bentley from 1980 to 1992. The brand’s sporty heritage dates back to the glorious Bentley "Blowers" that won the 24 Hours of Mans in 1924 and then every year from 1927 to 1930.

Fast forward to 2010, the all-new Mulsanne, in true Bentley fashion, boasts a 512-horsepower V8 engine producing a surreal 751 pounds-feet of torque at a mere 1,750 rpm! Christophe Georges was proud to remind everyone that no other production car on the planet currently generates more torque except for the Bugatti Veyron.

Despite such outrageous power numbers that will excite any driver, the 6.75-litre engine of the big Bentley knows how to seduce Mother Nature, too. A variable displacement system idles four of the eight cylinders when cruising. This, in conjunction with the new eight-speed automatic transmission, reduces CO2 emissions and offers a potential 15-percent fuel saving compared to the previous V8.

Guaranteed exclusiveness!
The automaker naturally banks on flawless build quality and finish, a process that requires nine full weeks of painstaking craftsmanship.

An endless selection awaits Mulsanne buyers. Over a hundred "standard" paint colors are available, including two-tone combinations. For individuals who prefer even greater personalization, Bentley’s bespoke Commissioning Department, Mulliner, can even accommodate requests to match a colour that reflects their unique tastes!

As for the interior trim, a traditional tanning process brings out a richer leather smell that’s reminiscent of worn leathers in classic Bentleys. Wilton floor mats made of pure wool enhance both comfort and luxury. And let’s not forget the exclusive Naim® for Bentley premium audio system featuring 20 custom-made speakers and totaling 2,200 watts of rich sound!

North America at the forefront
Still in his early forties, Christophe Georges has been working for Bentley since the late 1990s, when he made the jump from Rover Europe.

With him on board, Bentley has made the United States its number one market worldwide, followed by England and China, "a country that will soon become as important to us as the UK market," confesses Georges.
