From 1909 to 1953, the Morgan Threewheeler proved very popular on the motorsport scene with high levels of performance and a range of 50 miles (80 km). It ended up winning the French Grand Prix in 1931.
Today, the company officially announced that it's coming back with the same retro looks while adding modern features that aim to bring the fun and passion back to personal transportation.
From the design viewpoint, the focus was set on making the new Threewheeler as close to a plane as possible and provide ample room for the driver, passenger and their luggage. A leather padded cockpit complete with aircraft instrumentation adds to the sense of flying on the road.
The 115-horsepower, direct-injected V-twin under the hood comes from engine specialist S & S. It's similar to the powerplant of many Harley-Davidson motorcycles. According to Morgan, drivers will benefit from maximum power at minimum revs, outstanding torque as well as low CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.
The Threewheeler is built on a reinforced tubular chassis with twin roll bars. The ultra-low centre of gravity literally gives the impression of being glued to the road.
Morgan's latest creation will go on sale in the U.K. for £25,000, which doesn't include extras like a polished engine and stainless steel tailpipes.
