BMW will use the upcoming 2016 Geneva Auto Show to launch the new i8 Protonic Red Edition. Limited production will begin at the Leipzig plant in July, and the car will be available for purchase for a limited time only.
The exact number of units has yet to be specified, however.
As the first in a line of special-edition models, the BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition stands out with a Protonic Red paint finish and accents in Frozen Grey metallic around the grille and rocker panels. Riding on exclusive 20” wheels, it uses a 362-horsepower gas/electric hybrid powertrain to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. And like the regular BMW i8, this one achieves 2.1L/100km on average (based on the European test cycle).
