that came in the RX-8 for 2003, the BMW 4.4-litre Valvetronic in 2002, the BMW 3.2-litre in 2001, the Honda Hybrid 1-litre from the Insight in 2000, and the Toyota Yaris (Echo Hatchback) 1-liter in 1999.

Winning automakers not yet mentioned in other categories include Alfa Romeo, Audi, DaimlerChrysler, Ferrari, General Motors, Mercedes-AMG, MINI, PSA Peugeot-Citroën, Saab, and Volkswagen.

The event was more than an award show, with automakers and suppliers meeting and discussing cooperative opportunities.

"We found the event most useful to make easy first contact with potential suppliers, meet with several of our current suppliers and seek out new opportunities," commented Brian Fitzsimons, Chief Engineer - Powertrain, Aston Martin Lagonda Limited.
