Ever dream of building your own SUV? One that would never even think of stalling and would consume a thrifty 0 litres of fuel? With the help of BMW and LEGO experts, a group of German kids did just that: build a life-size replica of the BMW X1.

Eight hundred young workers aged 5 to 13 took four days and used 165,000 LEGO bricks to create this 4.5-metre-high, 1.5-metre-long car.

With this original activity, the BMW Group wanted to help a non-profit Munich organization called Die Arche (The Arc) show the community how it supports the city’s less fortunate children.

The LEGO X1 will be on display until November 25 at the BMW Welt complex where it was assembled. The avant-garde complex is shaped like a twin-cone spiral and houses the BMW museum, a huge showroom and multipurpose halls designed to host various shows and cultural events. BMW Welt is next door to BMW Group’s international headquarters in Munich.
