MUSKOKA, ON – Four of us are wedged comfortably in the cabin of a Toyota Tundra, nodding our heads contentedly while the velvet tones of Frank Sinatra wash over us. The man at the wheel, Tony Bongiovi, flips a toggle switch, and suddenly what was merely background music becomes a near-concert hall experience. Like whisking away a dulling filter, the vocals are even smoother, the cymbals ring with crystal clarity and the bass notes resound with rich definition.

Tony Bongiovi is a Master Sound Engineer who began his career under Motown's legendary Barry Gordy.

His client roster reads like a Who's Who of the international Music scene.

As the man behind the legendary Power Station Recording Studio in Manhattan, Bongiovi has earned more than 50 gold and platinum albums, producing work with such superstar artists as The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith, Miles Davis, The Beach Boys, The Ramones, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Michael Jackson, AC/DC… the list goes on.

The Power Station is recognized as the undisputed world leader in acoustics, winning the highest awards the recording industry has to offer.

Now, Bongiovi has put his 45 years of experience into bringing the same level of acoustic excellence into your Toyota's in-car audio system.

The Bongiovi Acoustics Digital Power Station is the world's first 100% digital audio processing system for the auto industry. It's available as an option in every new Toyota model – delivering the kind of sound quality that was once exclusive to premium brand owners at astronomical prices.

What's more, it's available throughout most of the Toyota lineup, including the humble Yaris.

The Digital Power Station (DPS) works by analyzing the sound produced by the car's audio system and re-masters it and sends out studio-quality sound… through the vehicle's own OEM speakers. It doesn't need any additional accessorie, the DPS unit is an easily-installed "plug and play" unit weighing under a kilogram.

A profile for each vehicle has been created, so the DPS will be able to produce the best sound possible for each particular vehicle's cabin dimensions and characteristics.

Bearing in mind that some premium German sedans charge upwards of $8,000 for their concert-hall replicating sound systems, the cost of the Bongiovi DPS unit reads at first like a misprint: its suggested retail price is just $280. And, the DPS isn't the product of some far-away, exotic location. It's produced right here in Canada, by the AVG Group of Scarborough, Ontario.

Resembling character actor Joe Pesci more than he does his famous cousin Jon Bon Jovi, Tony Bongiovi admits he doesn't look like a rock star.

"This is my rock star" he says, fondly patting the paper-back size DPS unit.

"But it doesn't do drugs, doesn't have any crazy girlfriends, and I don't have to bail it out of jail."

"It makes me look good".
