"Our manufacturing operations in Canada are a significant part of our product offensive this year," said Wolfgang Bernhard, Chrysler Group Chief Operating Officer. "Three of the nine products being launched are made in Canada, accounting for almost two-thirds of the total expected volume for those products."

The $1.4 billion (USD$1 billion) plus overhaul includes the latest laser quality control technology that checks 225 points on 60 to 70 bodies per shift to make certain all dimensions are within the specified tolerances.

More Mercedes-Benz influence caused Brampton to implant a system for sealing cars previously only used by DaimlerChrysler in Europe but never in North America. Tonietto commented that recent tests show this system creates "a vehicle that matches up well with a Lexus."

Such quality levels will definitely help improve Chrysler's image as it climbs out of economy and returns to its premium brand roots. The 300 Series, especially the top-line HEMI powered 300C, will need to be the car that gets them there. By all early accounts, it looks as if Chrysler is on track.
