Bugatti has just set a new speed record for open-top production sports cars, reaching 408.84km/h with a Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse. The feat took place at Volkswagen Group’s proving grounds in Ehra-Lessien, Germany.
The 1,200-horsepower roadster will be sold in a World Record Car (WRC) Edition, which is limited to eight vehicles at €1.99 million (about $2.5 million) apiece.
Look for it to make its global debut next week at Auto Shanghai 2013.
