While the Koreans and Japanese dominate the passenger car sales charts for the months of January through July 2011, the Americans virtually occupy the entire top 10 when it comes to light-duty trucks, including pickups, minivans, SUVs and crossovers.
Unsurprisingly, the Ford F-Series continues to laugh at the competition with a commanding lead over the runner-up, the Dodge Grand Caravan – the cheapest yet one of the most convenient minivans for families on the market.
Even though it will soon be replaced by the Vertrek, the ageing Ford Escape managed to place fourth thanks to competitive prices, rugged looks and timeless appeal.
The only two foreign models to crack the top 10 are the Hyundai Santa Fe and Honda CR-V, both scheduled for a redesign in the near future.
