Because of Mazda's heritage in motorsports, officials of the brand have decided to financially support racers who support them.

"To show our support, we have committed over $100,000 in contingency prize money in Canada for 2012," Don Romano, President of Mazda Canada states on CTCC's website.

Money prizes will reward first, second and third place finishers of each class – Super Touring, Touring and B-Spec –, who drove an eligible Mazda race car to the checkered.

Said drivers will also be eligible for the Mazda North American Club Racer Shootout – and interseries contest that could see the winner earn a full season of SCCA Pro Racing Mazda MX-5 Cup racing.

John Bondar, president of the CTCC, was of course thrilled to see manufacturer support take such an important leap forward.

"We have worked very hard to gain the attention of the automotive manufacturers and it is wonderful to see Mazda Canada showing leadership," he said on the series' website.
