Québec's first ever F2000 champion, Rémy Audette, has opted not to defend his 2011 title in 2012. Instead, he will join forces with his brother Mathieu in the Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC).
"I’m anxious to have my Touring Car debut," Rémy said in a press release.
For the upcoming season, the two brothers will share the one Acura RSX Type-S Audette Racing has run in the past. But the team already has plan to add a second Honda Civic Si to their roster, in order for each Audette to contest the whole 2013 championship.
"Given that we chose this series for the Audette Racing Team for 2012 and future years, we have made the decision that Rémy and I would rotate race weekend," Mathieu explained.
"[The series offers] an extraordinary calendar that takes us to Trois-Rivières, to Montréal as part of the Formula 1 Grand Prix and the NASCAR event, as well as to the Circuit Mont-Tremblant, which remains one of my favourite tracks.
"Without contesting the complete championship it’s not possible [to fight for the title, but] we will be aiming for victory every time we start a race."
Rémy will make his debut start at the Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend at circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Other notable starts for him include the ALMS weekend presented at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (formerly known as Mosport).
Mathieu's biggest weekends will no doubt take place at the GP3R in Trois-Rivières, and during the NASCAR visit to Montréal.
