The debonair 1952 Ford-Cisitalia 808XF fitted by Vignale will undeniably be one of the star attractions of the 2010 edition of the Villa d’Este Concours d’Élégance this weekend in Cernobbio, Italy.

Built three years before the Thunderbird, the car was created by Piero Dusio, father of the Cisitalias, at the request of Henry Ford II. In the end, the project destined for small-scale manufacturing led nowhere, Ford having later decided to launch the Thunderbird, which was developped by his team and meant for large-scale production.

Be that as it may, Canadian collector Urs Jakob, current owner of the 808XF, will be representing Canada at the prestigious Italian event. The unique model will in fact be returning to Italy for the first time since Piero Dusio delivered it to Henry Ford II, 58 years ago!
