The new Chevrolet Cobalt SS Turbo will start just at just $24,995- undercutting the prices of several competing factory-tuned turbo rigs. Cobalt SS Turbo replaces the former Cobalt SS Supercharged model, ditching the supercharged Ecotec engine in favor of a more potent turbocharged unit that develops nearly 60 more horsepower.
GM promises that the new coupe will deliver a balance of track-proven performance, refinement and premium features which make it an ideal car for owners after eas-to-drive-power. The automaker estimates that the SS Turbo will return highway fuel consumption of just 6.6L / 100km as well.
On sale next month, the 260 horsepower SS Turbo comes with standard features including air conditioning, side airbags, Pioneer sound system, keyless entry and OnStar. Styling cues in the grille, rockers, badges and exhaust help to set the high-performance model apart, and owners can add options like a sunroof, high-rise spoiler and a limited slip differential as well.
