Yes, the efficiencies are starting to pay off!

Besides our turnaround plan, another thing is also different at Chrysler today. Yes, we still operate independently. We are truly American. We identify ourselves that way.

However, we are now part of a larger organization, and that has many more benefits. It's a formula that none of the other domestic American automotive manufacturers are able to tap into. It's a competitive advantage that's not easily duplicated.

More specifically, we're fortunate to have colleagues in other parts of the world that share the same strength - passion for what we do! As part of DaimlerChrysler, we now have access to the cutting-edge European technology of Mercedes-Benz to build further on the technology history of Chrysler - the same company that created breakthroughs in aerodynamics, automatic transmissions and safety.

In fact, the recent Winter Olympic Games provided an appropriate analogy for the strength of our extended family. It occurred to me that if you put the medals won by the U.S. and German team together, they would outnumber the medals won by all the other national teams combined. That is analogous to the strength of the combined Chrysler and Mercedes team. A new product we're launching next year - the Chrysler Crossfire - symbolizes this opportunity for Chrysler. Chrysler Crossfire is a new sports coupe that will blend American design with German technology and engineering.

We like to say it is Route 66 meeting the Autobahn - moreover, delivered to the market in 2 years from concept to production.

Furthermore, we now are co-operating with Mitsubishi on several platform-sharing arrangements which will produce even more exciting products for the future.
