dubbed the Wagoneer, after a successful model that ran from the early 1960s through to the mid-'80s, but with Chrysler Group's recent history in mind it would be uncharacteristic to name the new vehicle after an old model, as most of the automaker's latest offerings drop their old names.

Or maybe not, being that the new 300 Series borrows its numeric designation from a performance model which made history in the '50s, '60s, and most recently from 1998 through to 2003.

the Sebring. The car has been very successful for the auto group and therefore making changes, and subsequently risking confusion in the mainstream front-wheel drive sedan market doesn't make sense. The new Sebring will be based on a Mitsubishi sedan as previous reports have stated, the most likely donor being the latest Galant. This is an excellent car, boding well for Chrysler. Chrysler will continue to co-develop cars with Mitsubishi, according to the domestic automaker. Mitsubishi has announced a new sport-oriented pickup truck based on the recently redesigned Dodge Dakota.
