the market and positive association to buyers, not to mention connection with the popular NASCAR motorsport series, and its many offshoots that go by different names, Chrysler Group will rename the new model the Charger. The automaker obviously couldn't help itself, faced with an opportunity to combine a name associated with a storied classic muscle car to its legendary HEMI engine. The HEMI Charger, available when new from the late '60s through the early '70s, is now the stuff of collector car dreams, commonly fetching prices well beyond the expected price of the new model Dodge will soon unleash on the public.

1999, but anything similar would be a smash hit with fans of the original. If the car looks more like a sedan than a coupe, the door will still be open for an updated, even sportier HEMI Cuda, a car originally built on the same platform as the Charger and Challenger back in the late '60s and early '70s.

"All three models seemed attractive and winning," stated Reitman, but he added that Chrysler Group still faced intense competition from competitors going after the same market segments, also expected to launch new products and not looking likely to pull back on generous incentive programs.
