WINDSOR, ON — DaimlerChrysler Canada will add three new offerings to its PT Cruiser lineup in 2002: The Chrysler PT Cruiser "Woodie" Edition, the Chrysler PT Cruiser "Flame" Décor option and the Chrysler PT Dream Cruiser Series 1.

"Well over a year after it was introduced, the Chrysler PT Cruiser stands alone in the world market because it blends a nostalgic, yet contemporary design with function and technology to create a segment-busting vehicle", Pearl Davies, Chrysler/Jeep Brand Manager, DaimlerChrysler Canada, said. "These new models expand the appeal of the Chrysler PT Cruiser while keeping the brand and nameplate fresh in consumers' minds."

CHRYSLER PT CRUISER "WOODIE" EDITION
Since PT Cruiser was first introduced in the spring of 2000 as an early 2001 model, aftermarket wood paneling applications quickly surfaced throughout North America. For the Chrysler PT Cruiser "Woodie" Edition, Chrysler designers reached back to the brand's strong wood-body car heritage which was established in 1941 through 1950 with the classic Chrysler Town & Country series. Later, in 1968, Chrysler introduced simulated wood-panel design applications on its station wagons, and most recently on its best-selling Chrysler and Dodge minivans in the 1980s and Jeep Grand Cherokee in the early 1990s.

"For the Chrysler PT Cruiser 'Woodie' Edition, we wanted a design execution that recreated the carefree fun of the popular 1960s California surf wagons", Trevor Creed, Senior Vice President of Design, Chrysler Group said. "We wanted a clean, elegant execution that flowed with the lines of the car as well as a professional, factory-level look currently not available in the aftermarket".
