The same matching coloured inserts appear throughout the interior — on the instrument panel, including the passenger-side airbag door and instrument cluster bezel. Door bolsters are a matching gold grain vinyl. Seats are Dark Taupe and Light Pearl Beige with Inca Gold half-moon leather inserts. A unique textured leather called Matrix Leather is used in the seat cushion, seat back inserts, steering wheel and shift knob on automatic transmissions.
DaimlerChrysler has sold more than 220,000 Chrysler PT Cruisers worldwide since the vehicle first went on sale in April, 2000. To help meet increased demand for PT Cruiser, Chrysler recently announced its second production increase. By the fall of 2002 Chrysler will have the capacity to build PT Cruisers at a rate of 310,000 vehicles per year, up from the current capacity of 180,000 vehicles per year.
