The organiseres of the DTM and Japanese Super GT have ended their collaboration that was designed to unify the two technical regulations.
It was already decided that both DTM and Super GT would use the same chassis on their cars. But, as reported by Racecar Engineering, the Japanese organisers wanted the chassis to be built in Japan, while ITR (DTM) insisted that the chassis had to be built in Germany for both series.
Moreover, both parties failed to find an agreement about the engine regulations.
The Super GT cars are powered by a 4.3-litre V8 engines, based on the Formula Nippon's motor, and planned to switch to a 2.0 litre turbocharged hybrid. On the other end, ITR intends to continue to use the 4.0 litre V8 engines for their future DTM cars.
