Mattias Ekström (Audi) won this weekend's DTM event at the Nürburgring while Bruno Spengler (Mercedes) finished in second position and further increased his championship lead.

The Swede won his first race of the season after a dominant performance on the German track, as he started from pole position and led the race from start to finish, except during pit stops periods.

Bruno Spengler, who started from 4th position on the grid, moved up to third after Jamie Green’s poor start.

Then, the Canadian put the pressure on Mike Rockenfeller’s Audi. The German driver finally went wide in the penultimate lap, which allowed Spengler to move up to second place.

Spengler therefore increases his championship lead to seven points while Martin Tomczyk (Audi) managed to take only a 5th place at the Nurburgring.

Timo Scheider (Audi) still stands in third position in the standing after he finished in fourth place ahead of Tomczyk and Jamie Green (Mercedes).

Ralf Schumacher (Mercedes) was forced to retire in the very first lap after a contact with fellow former F1 driver David Coulthard.
