Paul Di Resta (C Class Mercedes) won the 7th round of the DTM championship presented at Brands Hatch. His teammate, Canadian driver Bruno Spengler, clinched second position and maintains his lead in the provisional championship standing.

Di Resta won his first race of the season, and took second place from teammate Gary Paffett in the championship standing. Paffett finished 5th at Brands Hatch. Di Resta already won Brands Hatch's race last year.

Bruno Spengler secured second position : the Canadian driver is back on the podium after his 7th position at Zandvoort two weeks ago. Spengler previously took five podium finishes in-a-row, including two wins. He still leads the championship with a nine points advantage, but his main rival is now Di Resta.

Timo Scheider (Audi) took third position and confirmed his comeback at the top. The German driver, reigning double DTM champion, had a bad beginning of season, but he was back on the podium two weeks ago at Zandvoort.

“Brands Hatch is a circuit that usually does not fit to my type of driving, Spengler told Auto123.com. But I made progress year after year, and I worked a lot during this week-end. This second place is a very good result, it is my best performance at Brands Hatch so far.

“Qualifications were crucial, with the second best performance, which was very important for the race as it is really difficult to overtake in Brands Hatch. During the race, I had to defend my position against Timo Scheider in the first laps.

“The first pit stop was crucial, and the team did a great job despite the pressure. I was able to be back on track ahead of Scheider. Then I was faster than him and I was able to secure my position until the checkered flag,” he added.
