Lithium-ion batteries by Dyson in your next electric car?

By ,

Dyson, the well-known premium vacuum cleaner manufacturer, has just purchased a lithium-ion battery start-up called Satki3, which is based in Michigan and has developed a technology that can deliver twice the power of current battery chemistry, according to The Detroit Bureau

James Dyson’s company invested $15 million earlier this year to use Sakti3 technology in its conventional product lines, such as cordless vacuums, but now plans to spend as much as $1 billion to set up a battery plant using Sakti3 chemistry.

Some have already speculated that Dyson is mulling a foray into electric cars as a lithium-ion battery supplier. If so, it could become a direct rival of Tesla and its Gigafactory.
