Porsche Motorsport announced this week that their latest creation would be going on sale this January.

Modifications brought to the 2012 911 GT3 RSR should make it the perfect car for customer teams: fast, race-ready and affordable.

Listed at $696,900, the full race-version of the GT3 is approximately $486,000 more than its 'base' road counterpart, the 911 GT3 RS. It's not exactly cheap, but when you consider the RSR is eligible for the 24 hours of Le Mans, the FIA World Endurance Championship, the ALMS and the LMS, it's a real bargain.

Hartmut Kristen, head of Porsche Motorsport, said he was very happy about the way the development work was progressing.

“Our test program on various international race tracks is currently running at full speed. We are very pleased with the car's performance and drivability. Our customer teams can expect a technically mature, high performance race car with which they will be highly competitive at international long-distance races.”
