Alfa Romeo hasn't sit still following the successful debut of the 4C concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, despite receiving much praise for its breathtaking supercar. The Italian automaker just announced that a revised and improved version is headed to Frankfurt in September.

Executives want to keep it a surprise for the first auto show of the new season, which is why the exact modifications remain unspecified. All we know is that they will enhance the car's ''dynamic excellence''.

It will be interesting to follow the evolution of the 4C, which is expected to serve as a flagship model when Alfa Romeo makes its long-awaited return to the U.S. market.

Weighing only 850 kilos (1,873 lbs), the concept boasts a 200-horsepower, direct-injected, mid-mounted engine connected to the rear wheels via a dual-clutch transmission. Ultra-lightweight materials such as aluminum and carbon fibre are also part of the package – an extraordinarily-styled package promising exceptional results.
