Ever wondered what car new Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton drives everyday? And what about Ferrari star driver Kimi Raikkonen? If they can handle a lightweight, 800-hp F1 race car on a road circuit, they surely want to drive exotic, super cars on the ordinary roads, right?

Well, no. Although a few drivers get caught for speeding on the highway, most of them remain pretty cool in their everyday driving.

Auto123.com got in touch with their contacts within the Formula 1 teams and asked what streetcars their drivers have for everyday driving. The answers were quite stunning.

Scuderia Ferrari
Kimi Raikkonen: Finnish driver Kimi Raikkonen started his Formula 1 career after having contested just 17 car races! After having spent one season with Sauber, and 5 with McLaren, Raikkonen switched to the mighty Ferrari team in 2007 where he clinched the World Championship the same year.

What he drives off-track:

Kimi drives an Alfa Romeo 159.

Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa both drive an Alfa Romeo 159.

In addition to his Alfa Romeo, Felipe Massa also drives a Fiat Linea.

Felipe Massa: Felipe Massa from Brazil finished second in the 2008 World Championship in a thrilling finish where his rival Lewis Hamilton managed to pass Timo Glock in the final corner of the decisive race of the season in Brazil.

What he drives off-track:

Massa drives an Alfa Romeo 159 and Fiat Linea.

Toyota F1 Team
Timo Glock: German driver Timo Glock captured the title in the GP2 development series in 2007, and was hired by the Toyota F1 team. Glock drives a Lexus IS F.

Among other cars, Jarno Trulli drives a Lexus LS 460.

Jarno Trulli: Jarno Trulli, a former world karting champion, is a veteran in F1. The Italian has contested 199 Grand Prix's during his 12-year career in F1. He has clinched just one victory, in 2004 in the streets of Monaco.

Trulli has 2 Lexus LS460, one RX350, and one Toyota Landcruiser 200.

Team McLaren-Mercedes
Lewis Hamilton: Briton Lewis Hamilton last year became the first black driver in F1. And he became World Champion in only his second season in F1. The boss of the McLaren-Mercedes team, Ron Dennis has promised him a fantastic gift the day he will capture his 3rd world title: a stunning $8m McLaren F1 car!

What he drives off-track:

Lewis drives a Mercedes-Benz GL 320 CDI and a Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series.

Lewis Hamilton pilots a Mercedes-Benz GL 230 CDI in his spare time.

Heikki Kovalainen drives a Mercedes-Benz CLS 320 CDI.

Heikki Kovalainen: Heikki Kovalainen comes from Finland like his countryman Kimi Raikkonen. Kovalainen arrived in F1 with Renault in 2007 and switched to McLaren a year later.

What he drives off-track:

Hekki has a Mercedes-Benz CLS 320 CDI and a Mercedes-Benz CLK 320 CDI.


Team Renault F1
Fernando Alonso: Spaniard Fernando Alonso, 27, has won 21 races and clinched two World Championships in his 7-year stint in F1. After a difficult season with McLaren in 2007, Alonso elected to return to Renault.

What he drives off-track:

Alonso drives a Renault Mégane Renault Sport.

Like fellow teammate Fernando Alonso, Nelson Piquet Jr. drives a Renault Mégane Renault Sport.

Nelson Piquet: Nelsonho Piquet is the son of three-time World Champion Nelson Piquet from Brazil. Nelsonho began in F1 in 2008 with Renault. His best result is a second-place finish at the German Grand Prix.

What he drives off-track:

Piquet also drives a Renault Mégane Renault Sport.

BMW Sauber
Nick Heidfeld : Nick Heidfeld, 31, from Germany has driven for the Prost, Sauber. Jordan, Williams and BMW teams during his F1 career. He has yet to win a race.

What he drives off-track:

Nick has a BMW M3 Coupé and a BMW X5 4.8i.

One of Nick Heidfeld's car is a BMW M3 Coupé.

Robert Kubica drives a BMW 330xi.

Robert Kubica : In 2006, Robert Kubica became the first F1 driver from Poland when he started driving for BMW. Kubica became known around the world for his spectacular crash during the 2007 Canadian GP. He was very fortunate not to be injured. A year later on the same track, he captured his maiden win.

Kubica drives a BMW 330xi.

Team Williams
Nico Rosberg : Nico is the son of Keke Rosberg who clinched the World Championship in 1982, the year of Gilles Villeneuve's fatal crash. Rosberg Junior has contested 3 seasons in F1 with team Willams.

What he drives off-track:

Robserg drives an Audi RS 4.

Nico Rosberg drives an Audi RS 4.

Kazuki Nakajima drives a Toyota Avensis Estate.

Honda F1 Team
Jenson Button: British driver Jenson Button, is only 28 but he has already spent 8 years in F1 and took part in 153 Grand Prix's. He scored only one victory, in Hungary in 2006 on a drying track.

Jenson has a Honda S2000 and a Honda Civic Hybrid.

Rubens Barrichello: Veteran Rubens Barrichello of Brazil currently holds the record for the most GP starts with 268. The winner of 9 races with the Scuderia Ferrari, Barichello raced for Honda from 2006 until 2008.

Barrichello drives a Honda CR-V and a Honda Civic Hybrid.
