Twenty-four year old Spaniard Andy Soucek set the fastest time in Day 1 of Formula 1 young driver testing at Jerez de la Frontera, southern Spain.

Andy Soucek - Williams

Soucek is the reigning champion of the new Formula 2 series and his prize for winning the title was to drive the Williams F1 car.

Scotsman Paul di Resta, a Mercedes-Benz driver in DTM was an impressive second quickest, despite Force India having only run him in the afternoon, since American JR Hildebrand drove the car during the morning.

Jules Bianchi - Ferrari

British Gary Paffett – another Mercedes-Benz driver in DTM - drove the McLaren to third place.
