The FIA's Technical Delegate, Briton Charlie Whiting, is believed to be visiting UFF1's facility in Charlotte, North Caroline on Wednesday to know more about the various rumors and reports to determine the team's state of development and its ability to race this season.

The visit, which has not been officially confirmed by either USF1 or the FIA, comes after USF1 Technical Director Ken Anderson asked the FIA about the possibility for the American team to miss the opening four Grands Prix in order to finish the car and test it properly before entering it in a race.

FIA new President Jean Todt issued a clarification last week, insisting that F1 teams cannot miss any races, despite suggestions that the new Concorde Agreement allows teams to skip three events without penalty.

There are rumours circulating today that team backer Chad Hurley of YouTube is trying to complete a deal with either Campos Meta or Stefan GP, two other struggling teams, to merge operations and keep USF1's ambitions on track.

Whiting will be able to determine whether the American outfit has any chance of competing in F1 this year, and will most likely submit a report to Todt.
