According to several sources, four new outfits have sent an application for the new selection process to identify a candidate team to fill any vacancy that may exist in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship at the start of the 2011 season.
It seems that teams Durango, Epsilon Euskadi and Stefan GP have already filed in their applications to the Paris-based FIA.
According to italiaracing.net, a fourth team, ART Grand Prix, is about to join them.
ART Grand Prix was created in a collaborative project between Frédéric Vasseur, the principal of ASM Formule 3, and Nicolas Todt, the son of Ferrari's former CEO Jean Todt.
Frenchman Vasseur wanted to expand his championship-winning Formula 3 team into the newly created GP2 Series that supports Grands Prix in Europe, while Nicolas Todt had expressed an interest in team management.
ASM and ART produced champions such as Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Jamie Green, Paul di Resta, Lucas di Grassi, Romain Grosjean, Nico Hulkenberg and Jules Bianchi.
The FIA indicated that the timing of this process would depend on the candidates’ responses.
However, by way of indication only, the FIA anticipates that full applications will need to be submitted by the end of June, followed by due diligence leading to a decision in July 2010.
