Ferrari has recently announced a new model called the California- an addition to their V8 powered lineup as well as a machine to flank the 612 Scaglietti in the GT segment. Available exclusively as a convertible with a folding hardtop, Ferrari says that the California will satisfy even the most demanding drivers while delivering unmatched levels of versatility for the brand.

Take that to mean that the fabled prancing-horse badge will soon be fixed to a more inexpensive and every-day friendly car to counter competition for (relatively) cheap speed from Audi's R8 and Nissan's GT-R. The California will come with a front-mounted 4.3 liter V8 engine. The engine is direct injected and delivers its power peak at 7,500 RPM. Using a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the California will be able to achieve 0-60 in four seconds. An F1-Trac traction control system is fitted as well as Ceramic Brembo brakes for top-notch stopping power.

A new interior boasts classic styling cues alongside modern amenities and a new set of seats, steering wheel and infotainment system. Ferrari promises the California will be 'enjoyable and ergonomic' to drive, regardless of the position of the roof.

Expect more details closer to the cars on sale date.
