No more than a week ago, we brought to you news on the eventual coming of an EcoBoosted 4-pot to the new Explorer. Now, we can let you know that Ford will be dropping the same lump into the Edge.

Yup and no one will be surprised to learn about this move on Ford's behalf.

The 2.0L turbo is good for 240hp and 275 lb-ft of torque but this will not be the only change coming to the Edge for the 2012 model year. Minor exterior modifications will be made in order to improve aerodynamics that will help maximize fuel economy.

According to available information, the improvements have paid off. Initially, it was expected that the Edge would manage 28-MPG (8.4L/100 km) on the highway but now the rating has changed to 30-MPG (7.8L/100 km).

Pricing has not yet been announced but we do know that production will begin in the next few days. Our guess is that it will slot itself just below the $32k base price of the current FWD SE V6 in FWD SE EcoBoost guise.
