While Ford may have already downsized the Explorer to a V6, seems they're not done changing up the renowned vehicle, this time adding a fuel-saving EcoBoost variant.
This new EcoBoost engine is a turbocharged 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder that will return a supposed 20mpg in the city and 28mpg on the highway. This new engine will push out 240hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. If you choose to take the EcoBoost option, you'll be limited to the FWD, 6-speed automatic Explorer, and will be limited to a max towing capacity of 2,000 lbs.
It might seem strange to put this engine in an SUV, but let us remind you how well the EcoBoost has done in the F-150 since it was introduced last year. And with the Ford Explorer already catching so much attention, this new engine is sure to drag in more buyers.
