A glimpse into the future of Ford
This could mean anything from obtaining your daily work schedule, to retrieving local traffic and weather information. Imagine a vehicle which not only knows your normal daily route to work, but can redirect you in the case of traffic holdups. It will even be able to tune your radio to the station you were listening to at breakfast before you left home, or self-tune to your local news station at the appropriate time.

Of course, it doesn’t simply end there, because with wellness innovations such as heart-monitoring seats, your vehicle will be able to judge your stress levels once you’ve left work, and perhaps even suggest a more relaxing route home. It will also be able to monitor local air quality information, which in some of the larger cities could prove vital to drivers who suffer from allergies. Imagine not only discovering a less stressful route to work, but a totally fresh one whenever possible.

Then, there’s the fun which will become available with some of these new innovations. Current technology requires chassis settings to be defined based upon the abilities and tastes of a cross-section of drivers, and the topography of typical roads. This concept foresees handling and performance, not only tuned to the specific individual behind the wheel, but also to the road conditions at any given time. Because the vehicle will be adaptive and honed to maximum performance, this will take the personal driving experience to the next level.

Your Ford of the future may well become your personal assistant. It could perhaps close your garage door automatically as you exit the driveway. Maybe, you don’t wish to be disturbed during a particular fun part of your route to work, whereby you’d simply request your car to change your connected smartphone to the do-not-disturb mode.

Of course, with shared vehicles, this will be available to each individual driver. Everything from their choice of radio stations, seat position preferences, and even performance settings will be stored by the vehicle. All you need do is jump into your perfectly individualized driving seat.

The Evos Concept is equipped with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain complete with lithium-ion batteries. It’s actually the basis for the upcoming C-MAX Energi that will be introduced in North America next year.

The possibilities are almost endless, so perhaps you can now understand why this concept has captured my imagination. As I’ve previously stated, I’m not one for concept vehicles, but show me the automobile of the future and that’s something even I can get excited about!
