Mirko Bortolotti and Miki Monras took vcitory in the two first rounds of the Formula 2 2011 season at Silverstone.

The third season of the Formula 2 « new era » began this week-end at Silverstone.

Miko Bortolotti, who was making his return in the championship where he already competed in 2009, took the first pole position of the season. Then, the Italian kept his rivals at bay to cruise to victory in race 1, winning in front of Will Bratt and Miki Monras.

Then, it was Miki Monras’ turn to take pole position in the second qualifying session.

The Spaniard also converted his pole into victory, as Alex Brundle (son of former F1 driver Martin Brundle), stalled his engine on the grid and was hit by Parthiva Sulechwaren’s car : both men escaped unhurt.

In front, Monras remained in firts place, and took victory ahead of Bortolotti and Christopher Zanella.
