Ralph Gilles, head of design at Chrysler and Dodge, agreed to provide more details about the future Dodge Viper during the Automotive News World Congress in Detroit. Every journalist on hand fell off their chair when he announced that the car will be inspired from... a naked woman on the beach!

Gilles was no doubt referring to the silhouette of the new-generation Viper, scheduled for market release next year as a 2013 model.

Chrysler's plan is to make the iconic coupe so sexy and attractive that buyers considering a Porsche or Corvette will rush to the nearest Dodge showroom instead.

The company sold 392 Vipers last year, down from 482 in 2009 and 1,172 in 2008. The new iteration will be profitable and its sales volume isn't important, according to Gilles.
