Hyundai plans to sell an all-electric luxury sedan under its new Genesis brand. According to Reuters, Hyundai Senior Vice President Manfred Fitzgerald made the announcement on the sidelines of an auto show in Busan, South Korea.

While no timetable has been set or disclosed, “it is very, very obvious that EV is definitely on the map,” he said. An electric powertrain would certainly help diversify the automaker’s portfolio, something Fitzgerald believes is important to achieve success in the luxury market.

In other news, a diesel variant of the G80 in select markets is planned for the first half of 2017.

In case you forgot, Genesis introduced its first model ever, the G90 sedan (formerly known as Hyundai Equus), at the 2016 NAIAS in Detroit earlier this year. Five more will follow by 2021.
