General Motors is introducing two new industry-first airbags on four of its best-selling cars and crossovers. They were originally announced in September 2011.
The 2013 GMC Acadia and Chevrolet Traverse equipped with power seats as well as the 2013 Buick Enclave now come with GM’s innovative front centre airbag, which is designed to provide an energy-absorbing cushion between drivers and front passengers in side-impact crashes and rollover events.
Meanwhile, the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze gets a flexible venting driver airbag that effectively uses the inflator output and the characteristics of the vent to manage the ride down of the occupant and help reduce the risk of inflation-induced injuries.
