GM has extended to January 31st, 2015, its compensation program for victims of faulty ignition switches and their families.
So far, the automaker has been liable in 32 cases of death. Some 35 accidents including five severe ones have also been linked to faulty switches that prevented the airbags from properly deploying.
Under GM's compensation plan, each victim is entitled to $1 million, while their surviving spouse and children can receive $300,000 apiece.
