According to Stapleton, other key interior features include an overhead console and rail system, a spacious and flexible rear convenience center/cargo system, and a rear entertainment system that includes an optional DVD player with flip-down screen and integrated controls.

The second and third row seats remove and fold, Stapleton explained, with the third row designed so that it folds flat with the floor. The third seat is not power-operated, however, and that puts it behind some of the other mid-vans on the market.

As well as being attractive, said Kretz, the CSVs' interiors are also supposed to be a lot quieter.

"Road noise and wind noise have been reduced considerably," she claimed, "and that will provide a quieter cabin experience for passengers."

Kretz said the CSVs will also benefit from standard 16-inch, four-wheel disc brakes. "The entirely new, world-class foundation brake system provides the vans with more stopping power, better pedal feel, smoother and quieter operation and longer pad life," she said.

Dual cavity, four-halogen bulb headlamps provide twice the lighting intensity of predecessor models, Kretz noted, and "electrical reliability has been improved by significantly reducing the number of connectors, terminals and splices and increasing the number of sealed connectors, while reducing the number of unsealed connectors."

Almost as big an improvement as the interior is the new engine, an overhead-valve 3.5-litre V6 that sends 200 hp and 220 lb.-ft. of torque to the front wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
