Three-year contract means all Quebec police pursuit vehicles to ride on Goodyear tires.

Goodyear Canada, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, today announced that it has been awarded a three-year contract from the Government of Québec to be sole provider of replacement tires for all police pursuit vehicles in the province. Pursuit vehicles are typically used for patrolling highways or other situations involving higher speeds.

"Making the world's safest passenger tires has always been Goodyear's top priority, and this vote of confidence from the Government of Quebec demonstrates that we're living up to our words," said Wayne Barnes, President and CEO, Goodyear Canada. "The men and women who drive police pursuit vehicles in Quebec can't take their tires for granted, so we're honoured that Goodyear got the call."

Effective immediately, all police pursuit vehicles requiring replacement tires will be fitted with Goodyear RSA Plus -- a tire model specifically designed for police use, with a V (high speed) rating, increased traction in wet or winter conditions and unique additional reinforcements that prevent "flat-spotting" (flat spots on tires that can occur during prolonged vehicle storage). Goodyear RSA Plus tires are also factory-installed on all Chevrolet Impala, Ford Crown Victoria and Chrysler Intrepid police pursuit vehicles.

More police cars, ambulances and school buses in Canada ride on Goodyear tires than any other brand of tire.

Goodyear manufactures tires for passenger cars and light trucks at its plant in Valleyfield, Quebec. The plant, hich is accredited by both ISO and QS, employs approximately 1,500 people and has been in operation since 1965.
