Sergio Perez claimed maiden win in sprint race at Hockenheim, while championship leader Pastor Maldonado was forced to retire after an accident.

Perez, who started from 7th position on the grid, made a great catch-up, and eventually overtook Oliver Turvey to take the lead and pull away in front. The Mexican driver took his third 2010 win ahead of Turvey and Adrian Zaugg.

Sergio Perez closed a little the gap with Pastor Maldonado in provisional classification : the venezuelian driver, winner of race 1 on Saturday, was forced to retire in the last laps after an accident also involving Romain Grosjean.

The frenchman, who made a one-shot appearance at Hockenheim, was coming back from the back of the field when he tried to overtake Sam Bird at the hairpin. Both went side by side at the exit of the corner, and Maldonado came also beside both cars, trying to find a way pass, but he touched Grosjean’s car and both men went into the tire wall.
