Young driver Ricky Taylor has gotten himself and his co-driver Max Angelelli a sixth consecutive pole position in Watkins Glen. He will be looking at tying Jon Fogarty's record in Montreal next week.

Taylor will start this New York event sponsored by Canadian Tire ahead of Memo Rojas, whose co-driver is Scott Pruett. The duo will be looking for a sixth win in 10 rounds so far this season.

Third fastest of this qualifying round was Jon Fogarty in the No. 99 GAINSCO Chevrolet-Riley co-driven by Alex Gurney.

In GT, NASCAR Sprint Cup regular Joey Logano had settled for the pole of this pertubed qualifying session before he crashed and became the cause of the second black-flag of the session, forcing him to give-up his fastest time.

With only two or three flying laps each between the first black-flag and the session-ending one caused by Logano soon after the restart, the GT drivers had to be efficient on the track.

Robin Liddell had the best of his rivals in the circumstances and will start from the pole position in the Chevrolet-Camaro he shares with Jan Magnussen. GT point leader Andrew Davis, co-driven by Leh Keen, will start next to Liddell.

Logano and co-driver Boris Said would have started from second, but the team decided to switch cars which, again, negated his lap.
