Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas are officially the most important winners in one season of the history of the Grand-Am Road Racing Rolex Sports Car Series. With nine victories in 12 races this season, the winning pair was unbeatable.

Although they needed only 30 minutes of racing to officially win the 2010 title, the successful duo won yet another race by 1.946 seconds in front of Alex Gurney. Max Angelelli took third, one second behind Gurney. Pruett had the best of both of his rival out of the pits during the first caution period of the event. He led the last 39 laps.

"What a season for Chip Ganassi Racing - the Indy 500, the Daytona 500, the Brickyard 400, our championship and they're still in the championship hunt with the IndyCar Series. I'm proud to be part of that organization. It's been one of those dream seasons for us,” said 50 years-old Pruett who won a record 31st Daytona Prototype win in the process Saturday night.

“They're a big chunk ahead of us. We're got our work cut out for us for the offseason," summarized Gurney.

Angelelli and Rick Taylor led 44 laps of this final race of the season while Burt Frisselle and Mark Wilkins took the fourth place finish.

Andrew Davis and Robin Liddell gave Stevenson Motorsports a 1-2 finish in the GT division. Gunther Schaldach and Jan Magnussen took the second place finish in front of John Edwards and Adam Christodoulou who were followed by teammates Sylvain Tremblay and Jonathan Bomarito who placed second in the championship standing, five points behind the winners.

Emil Assentato, despite a spun and Jeff Segal, despite contact, managed to get out of this final race with the 2010 title. They finished sixth on Saturday night. It is a first championship for Mazda since 1991.

A small closing word on the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge championship that was won by Charles Espenlaub and Charlie Putman in the GS division and by Lawson Aschenbach and David Thilenius (won by number of victory over Seth Thomas and Bill Heumann, tie in points) in ST.
