GT1 World Championship officially launched Monday in Paris

Stephane Ratel of SRO and special guest Jean Todt, the new President of the FIA attended the launch of the new GT1 World Championship at the prestigious Automobile Club de France on the Place de Concorde in Paris.

The new GT1 series will run 24 cars, representing six makes of cars: Aston Martin (DB9), Corvette (Z06), Lamborghini (Murcielago R-SV), Ford (GT), Maserati (MC12) and Nissan (GT-R).

Those six car manufacturers will be represented each by two private teams.

The championship will stage ten rounds around the globe. The 2010 season will start in Abu Dhabi on April 16th and 17th, and will end in San Luis, Argentina on December 5th.
