If you've beenthinking of buying a sporty SiR version of the Honda Civic Coupe, you better looksharp because Honda Canada will not bring the English-built Japanese car backfor the 2005 model year.

Honda Canadasays the decision was taken ''because of exchange rate costs'' with the Britishpound, which was valued at about 2.5 times as much as the Canadian dollar at the time.

That's more thanthe exchange rate is now or what it was back in the spring of 2002, when Honda launched the peppythree-door model, though even then it must have been a bit of a financialstretch.

Civic fansseemed to like the car, with 1,007 of them buying the car in the first year. That number went up to 1,271 in the 2003 model year, and so far in 2004 1,034 unitshave been sold.

But when thecurrent stock on dealer lots is gone, that will be it for the $25,500 model, since the British factory has already switched to the 2005 model that won't bebrought to Canada.

It may not bethe end Anton Yewchyn-Pawczuk of Honda Canada allows as how it might return oneday.

As equippedtoday, the SiR comes with a 2-litre, DOHC inline-four that delivers 160 hp at6,500 rpm and 132 lb-ft of torque at 3,200 rpm.
