Hummer H1 end a hollow symbol for environmentalists

As for the fate of the H1, it's not likely that anyone will be too upset about its demise, except perhaps the environmentalists whose relentless vilification did so much to raise Hummer's reputation in the public consciousness. For them it was an easy target, which they could hit without upsetting too many of their supporters or limousine liberals.

They may think the end of the H1 is some kind of victory in the war against pollution, but in truth it's like the retirement of the guy in the plumed hat who lead the parade but did little actual fighting.
