for sale, and according to Ford vice-president Richard Parry-Jones there are a few parties interested in purchasing the engine business and the team.

"If we cannot find a buyer we would be forced to face a closure scenario but we're not thinking about that at the moment," Parry-Jones added.

While F1 teams Jordan and Minardi both use Ford-Cosworth engines, and therefore could be looking for a new subsidized engine manufacturer, if there still is such a thing, the entire Bridgestone presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford, the official name for North American motorsport series otherwise known as Champ Car, use spec Ford-Cosworth engines and therefore could be affected.

While it's a sad day in motorsport and for many of the Browns Lane workers who are now out of a good paying job, it's a sign that what they were producing isn't what enough buyers want. Jaguar once made the most beautifully styled, strongest performing cars in the world. Only time will tell if the legendary marque finds its way back to roots of daring innovation.
